My health aide took me out for a ride to my favorite area, the Turnbull Wilderness Refuge. I am forced to shoot from the car as my wheelchair is much too heavy to lug.

This was a few week ago in early spring as the Aspens were first getting their colours and reflecting in the wetlands which are replete with hundreds of aviaries.

I purposely set my sharpness a bit higher in order to give the area its true ambiance which is frequently done well in oil paintings. This has been my way for many years in photography and is not widely accepted but found as very well received by naturalists.

The 196-acre Turnbull Pines RNA, surrounding the Turnbull Laboratory for Ecological Studies is mostly ponderosa pine forest with a few scatterd groves of quaking aspen and wetlands. The 160-acre Pine Creek RNA, neare the eastern boundary of the public use area, exemplifies relatively undistrubed savanna of ponderosa pine and bunchgrasses.

Dear Bob,
So happy to see that you are back! And with a lovely picture of a wonderful corner of earth. Looks quite wild. Beautiful mix of reflections and real trunks in the water. I'm sure, it is an "habitated" place too.
Looking forward to see more:-)
Kind regards

Hello Robert,

You caught a wonderful mirror-reflection on the nearly stagnant waters!
I like the light and exposure in the picture, and of course the effective POV which collectively make this work so special to enjoy. Not so sure but it looks to me as if the picture is bit over-sharpened?

Other than that, a wonderful work to enjoy for ages!

Best wishes,

Hi Bob,these are the pics that i like from you, they seems easy to take but in yours there is always something of magic, beautiful light, impressive details and reflections and the best natural colors too!! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano.

Hello Robert,
wonderful landscape picture with fine exposure and beautiful colours. I also like your well chosen POV and the nice reflections on the water. Maybe you have oversharpened the picture a little bit. You can see it in the trees in the background.
Best wishes,

Ciao Bob, lovely and peaceful composition with fascinating reflections, wonderful colors and splendid light, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Bob,
Looks like a great place to search for swamp critters. I'm sure it is also filled with all types of dragonflies and other interesting insects. Even though you upped the sharpness, I can see how it helps to bring out some of the tiny branches in the BG that otherwise would not be readily visible.
Reminds me of an area up in the Sand Run Metro Park area that I like to visit, when the Spotted Salamanders are making their spring migration. I was up their last week and checked out the Blue Heron rookery and it was filled with birds.

Hello Bob,

A great capture with beautiful colors, details & setting. Very nicely composed & presented. TFS & best wishes...Bob!

Your message & purpose are transparent...

Kind regards

Bonjour Bob,
Utilisation judicieuse du reflet dans une bonne composition et sous une très belle lumière.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.

Shooting from your car would be ideal in Kruger Park in South Africa, as you are not allowed to get out of your car while driving in the Park
This is aa really nice and serene landscape shot, making me wish that I was there to enjoy the tranquility.
The ripples in the water show movement making the image look "live"
Lighting is excellent, well done

Hi Bob,

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The wideness of the area is giving depth to the scene. The point of view is allowing me to see the details and colors of the scenery. The light is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.
