This species

is often presented at TN.

Colour and extension of the wing spots of P. aegeria vary from small white-yellow to large fiery orange-brown ones. Specimens of the latter kind are predominantly found in southern Europe in the mediterranean countries while the less colourful populations are found in the more temperate regions of Europe. The female shown here originates from middle Germany and shows rather prominent spots.

Recently I posted a picture of the allied species Pararge xiphia from Madeira.

The browns and yellows of this P.aegeria is beautifully captured, its almost difficult to find on this ground, I suppose. fine image. tfs.

Lieber Nachbar,
Du zeigst hier einen Schmetterling, den ich als Nachbar hier in Bern auch öfters sehe. Eher im Mai, wie auf deinem Bild. Interessant wie die Färbung an die Umgebung angepasst ist. Gute Bildschärfe und natürliche Präsentation.
