|Dark morph Eleonora's Falcon|
about 1/3 of Eleonora's Falcon are of the dark morph despite the fact the color morph is transmitted in a Mendellian fashion with dark being the dominant allele, so DD is the dominant and homozygote dark morph, Dl is the heterozygote dark morph, ll is the recessive light morph. One would expect a majority of birds being of the dark morph (both DD and Dl) but the reality is different, the causes are so far unknown.
