[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Large White is one of two species (the other being the Small White) that can claim the title of “Cabbage White” that is the bane of allotment holders all over the British Isles. The larva of this species can reach pest proportions, and decimate cabbages to the point that they become mere skeletons of their former selves. The female is distinguished from the male by the presence of 2 black spots, together with a black dash, on the forewing upperside

Hello Les,
Excellent macro of this butterfly. Great sharp focus, details and beautiful natural and contrasting colours against the dark background. Taken from a good POV in a very nice diagonal composition. A beauty!

Hello Les,

They sure are an attractive looking 'pest' when photographed at the right angle, in proper lighting, and with white balance well managed - in order to show off it's yellow highlights. You've passed this all with flying colors and the purple flower and darkened bokeh enhance these intricate hues to the nth degree. Congrats on this professional composition!

Hello Les,
Incredible clarity, focus and razor sharp details. Lovely colors, perfect exposure and the superb light. You have a very good chance to take a shoot of this common but lovely species of butterfly.
Thanks for sharing and useful photographers note.
