[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a bee (Apis Mellifera) which is collecting the nectar from a lavender flower. The nectar is a clear liquid consisting of nearly 80% water with complex sugars. Bees have a long proboscis that they use in order to obtain the nectar from flowers. In general, a proboscis (from Greek pro "before" and baskein "to feed") is an elongated appendage from the head of an animal. The most common usage is to refer to the tubular feeding and sucking organ of certain invertebrates like insects, worms (including proboscis worms) and mollusks. The elephant's trunk is also called a proboscis.

In the current shot, the bee has to put the head really deeply into the flower to get the nectar. This is a consequence of the shape of the flower. I like to see the two antennas which cannot enter into the flower. I also like to see the hair of the bee. This is caused by the backlight. To reduce the contrast and get a decent lighting, I used a reflector made of a metallic cookie box !

I cropped the picture and used a capture sharpening. I adjusted the colors saturations and used a contrast mask to open up the shadows.

Very good close-up!
Great colour and details, nice frame.
TFS!

Très belle composition assortie d'un bon post-processing.
Tu pourrais peut être augmenter la luminosité des ombres pour faire ressortir un peu l'abeille.
TFS, Laurent
