[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Small White (Pieris rapae) is a small- to medium-sized butterfly species of the Yellows-and-Whites family Pieridae. It is also known as the Small Cabbage White and in New Zealand, simply as White Butterfly.[1] The names "Cabbage Butterfly" and "Cabbage White" can also refer to the Large White.
It is widespread and populations are found across Europe, North Africa, Asia, and Great Britain. It has also been accidentally introduced to North America, Australia and New Zealand where it causes damage to cultivated cabbages and other mustard family crops. The caterpillar stage alone is responsible for crop damage because of which it is referred to as the Imported Cabbageworm.(Wikipedia)

Hello Siggi
A superb photo, excellent light and detail. The rich colour of the flowers complements the butterfly very well.
regards yiannis

Hello Siggi,

Hope you are doing fine friend. This is a superb shot of this common but very beautiful butterfly which with slight variations is found throughout the world. Your focus is sharp and the details very prominent. The pale white of the butterfly contrasts well with the purple colour of the flower and the darker background. Thanks a lot for sharing an exquisite photo....take care....warm regards/Abid

Hi Siegfried
Yes the Cabbage Butterfly is quite common in Alberta. You have this knack (talent) of capturing your butterflies on flowers with colours that
really accentuate or beautifully contrast the colours of the butterfly. This image is no exception. The detail in the eye and wings is amazing.
Happy New Year and all the best in the future.
Thanks for sharing
