Yesterday's bird sitting on the nest
White-tailed Tropicbirds are breeding on the ground on rat-free islands, otherwise higher up in the trees with less breeding success. On Cousin island hundreds are breeding on the ground, always close to a trunk or hidden under a dead trunk. The are extremely approachable as they do not know humans as predators.

Very special image. Beautiful exposure in a tough lighting situation. I really like how you composed the image. The blurred foreground gives hint of where the nest is. The nest tells what she doing. Her expression giving you the bird. Beautiful detail and sharpness.
