Hi Trekkers,

From time to time I'll post some pics which doesn't show anything else than fungal growth on dead wood, but I find interesting to share it for one reason or another. This time the very young crust fungi seems like many little mouths and beaks without faces. :-)

The species is Peniophora incarnata (Pers.) P. Karst., the Rosy Crust, growing on deciduous wood, even under the bark, all year, with a cosmopolitan distribution. Rare or overlooked in Hungary. More info about the genus here and about the species here.

Photo: taken closed to Ómassa village, in the Bükk National Park, on dead deciduous wood; with using my macro converter lens. Manual exposure mode, manual white balance. PP: cropping, after re-sizing slight sharpening.

Workshop photo shows fully developed fruit-body.

Thanx for looking and commenting.

Hello László,
An interesting species of xylophytic fungus well taken with fine natural colours and sharpness that show good use of your macro lens. The WS is good to see too.

Hello laszlo,
You are correct..they do look like little mouths or beaks. Some seem to be smiling while others are singing or just puckering up for a kiss. How funny yet interesting at the same time!! TFS.
