Yellowstone NP - Castle Spring

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French] |
Yellowstone National Park is well-known for its thermal features. It's home of 500 geysers, most of them are concentrated in geyser basins. When they erupt, water containing various minerals flows on the ground. Besides, this hot and wet ecosystem allows lichens to grow. The combination of these various minerals and lichens is responsible of incredible colors we can see along the geyser basins.
The little mount is just the limestone deposit when the geyser erupts.
Tchnical note:
When you are in front of such lightning, you better bracket many pictures. As I am very lazy, I preferred to trust my exposure system ... So, it's the only one shoot.
Fortunately, as it was a slide film, all dynamic of lights could be recorded.
Then, it was pretty hard work to get a good scan and I had to act firmly on contrasts and densities to obtain the right result. No changes on the color tones were made.
I hope you'll like this strange landscape. |

Hello Philippe.
I like this tall frame capture with the brownish tone in the foreground. The limestone mount with the erupted geyser makes beautiful backdrop.
Thanks and have a nice day.
