A Mantis sp.
It hot and dry here in Bangalore...almost dry and hard to find insects either in Lalbagh or in my backyard..Today morning found this mantis, looks like a nymph on the tree trunk and captured the nature of camouflage. The art of camouflage in nature is amazing as the species adopt different approach according to the environment to fool its prey and predator. Incredible art of nature.

Hello Nagraj

WOW ! what a great camouflage of this insect,
and if you would shoot the photo with this
insect smaller in the photo you would put
the human eye in a hard exercise to find it
in the tree bark, TFS

Hi Nagaraj. The camouflage is an incredible art of nature as you say. I could overlook this easily. I love the colour of it and the patterns. I also like the way it looks like light is reflecting on it. A very cool effect. Wonderful to see this. TFS Trevor

Hello Nagaraj,
What a wonderful shot showing the unique camouflaged ability of this tiny mantis. It's amazing that you even spotted it in the first place as it blends in perfectly with the bark. Excellent photo!!

Hello Nagraj,
A great image with excellent colors. But I feel a bit of contrast may have highlighted the subject better.
