Toad (Bufotes boulengeri) - North African Green Toad - sitting in an irrigation canal of the oasis Merzouga.
Thanks to Dietrich (meyerd), who gave the ID of that toad to me.

Dear Roland,

good to know that you have become a TN adept now ! I like this toad (it's not a frog, the bulging parotic glands behind the eyes are the hallmark of Bufonidae). The focus is not on the eye as recommended for animal shots but a little lower, that is not bad in this case, the back and the legs are as important here.

I checked the ID. There are five species of toads occurring in Morocco:
Bufo spinosus
Barbarophryne (=Bufo) brongersmai
Bufotes boulengeri
Amietophrynus mauritanicus
Amietophrynus xeros

Judged by this list yours can only be Bufotes boulengeri, the North African Green Toad (Nordafrikanische Wechselkröte)

Thanks for your picture and for the comment on mine.
My best regards, Dietrich
