Hello friends, the title must be
« The Ring-billed Gull... » instead
of « The Gull... » but their was not
enough allowed place for the title.

Photo shot in heavy snow and wind
conditions with my rugged camera
(Olympus Tough TG-1 iHS) few days
ago when we had a snow storm.

1/500s f/4.9 ISO100 18mm (35mm eq:100mm)
with no cropping, this is the full frame
of the original image because I loved
the way the gull is framed by the trees.

I would love it to be more at the left,
but these cameras are not as fast in
focusing as the DSLRs and have shutter lags.

from National Geographic website

« This is the common and familiar
“sea gull” across much of North America
—from coastal beaches to malls in the middl
of the continent—yet it is rarely seen offshore.

This notably adaptable and bold feeder takes
bread from children, soars to catch insects,
scavenges at dumps, and even plucks berries
from trees. Monotypic. Length 17–20" (43–51 cm); wingspan 44.5–49" (113–124 cm). »

Gorgeous shot Asbed. You're right in saying that the trees frame it well. I also like the snowflakes under the wings. Very poetic shot Asbed. The overcast sky blends well with the gull. A perfect shot! TFS Trevor

Hello Asbed,

The tall deciduous tree to the right and the heavy snowfall creates a very Ansel Adams-esque ambience on it's own right. The ring-billed gull a well placed and lively prop that injects this landscape with a focus point that we can all identify with. Very original and creative. Well done!

the composition with the tree make a wonderful picture!
best regards Asbed
