[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I went to check this dead birch tree that I keep a watch on and as I stood beside it, a dull thump, thump, thump started. I looked on the other side and could see nothing and back around nothing. I know the pair frequents the are and had hopes it was them, but could not see it on that tree...
Finally its beak appeared, then the face and finally the whole bird. He ignored me and went about his business as he move up the tree above me allowing me some good shots.

Hi Debbie,a beautiful capture of this magnificent woodpecker!Excellent work despite the difficult pose and situation, great exposure, details and colors,i like it! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Lucky you to get this magnificent shot of a pileated - they have eluded me for years!!! Great color though it seems the red head feathers are a little blurred or over-sharpened.

Hello Debbie, Congratulations!!
I would love to get a close-up shot of one of these guys, but so far it hasn't happened. Actually to be honest I would like to get any shot of a Pileated, as they seem to be so elusive in my area.
Looks like you did a good job considering what appears to be some pretty harsh lighting. Love the red creast and attractive markings on it's head and neck.

Lovley capture of this big woodpecker!

Hello Debbie

Excellent portrait shot of the Pileated Woodpecker,
fine POV on the bird's expressive glance,
beautiful light, great focus, sharpness, details, TFS

Bonjour Debbie,
La profondeur de champ n'est pas excellente mais le sujet est tout de même relativement bien valorisé.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
