Hello friends, this is the photo of
the puppy that I shot before the one
of his mommy I posted yesterday.

I pass around 2 minutes from where
I was and where he was over the den,
another puppy also came from the den
but when he saw me he returned to the den.

Is when this puppy at his turn entered
the den, I decide to change my place
to be more at the level of the den
hoping puppies will come out but
from the other entrance/exit it is
their Mommy that went out and start
yell on me, see that photo here.

1/4000s f/7.1 photo shot
in Manual mode), ISO1000
50mm (35mm eq:75mm) and
up to 25% of cropping.

from Canadian Museum of Nature website

« The red fox is found in Canada from coast
to coast to coast. It is a shy, nervous animal,
preferring to remain hidden from view.

The average weight of an adult red fox
is between 3.6 and 6.8 kg (8 to 15 lb.).
It resembles a small, slender dog, but is
equipped with heavily furred footpads;
only the Arctic fox has hairier footpads.

Red foxes frequently modify an abandoned
ground hog burrow, but they will also dig
their 3 to 9 m-long (10 ft. to 29.5 ft.)
dens in sandy or gravelly soil, giving them
2 or 3 entrances. They make conscientious
parents and the family unit remains intact
until autumn, when the pups disperse.

Their winter diet consists mainly of small
mammals like mice, squirrels and rabbits.
In the summer months, insects, crayfish and
vegetable matter play a more important part
in their diet. They are preyed upon primarily
by coyotes and bobcats. »

For no zoom lens your getting very good shots Asbed. You've framed it well. It's nice to see the tall trees in the background. They make the pup fox seem very small and very cute. Wonderful presentation! TFS Trevor

Ciao Asbd, an other great capture of lovely fox in beautiful ambientation, splendid light and wonderful natural colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

very beautiful frame. good lengthy shot. beautiful species in greenish landscape.

Finally you got the puppy.
another well taken picture.
best wishes,

Asbed, Thanks for thread on lens. My lens is an AF VR-Nikkor 80-400mm 1:4.5-5.6D. It retails in U.S. for $1800.00+. Was lucky to find my on line for $950.00 and it had never been out of the box! The guy had lots of money and had no use for it, so I was very fortunate. Had to learn how to use it ... now getting some good results. Good luck on your selection and hope you are happy with whatever you acquire.

The little fox is "on to you"! 8-)

Best regards,

Bonjour Asbed,
Dans la nature actuellement on voit partout des petits et c'est si touchant, c'est la vie! Jolie image de la nature avec ce renardeau montré à l'entrée de son terrier.
Bon dimanche de Pentecôte

Hello Asbed,
lovely capture of this Red Fox puppy with good sharpness and a fine eye contact. It is really a pitty that you didn't have a zoom lens with you, but I also liked to see a bit of the natural surrounding of ist home.
