Corsican Heath

Species information
This small butterfly of the subfamily Satyrinae is endemic to the islands Corse and Sardinia. A closely related species, Coenonympha elbana, occurs on Elba and some smaller adjacent islands as well as locally and very restricted on the Italian mainland.
As is the case for most other Coenonympha species, C. corinna is abundant within its habitats.
Compared to other European Coenonympha, C. corinna is rather small in size.

Location
Col de Prato in the vicinity of Morosaglia, North-Corse.

Ciao Peter, great macro of cute little butterfly, I never see in nature, lovely composition, fine details, superb sharpness, splendid light, excellent clarity and wonderful colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Named after a location, it is an absolutely pretty butterfly, Peter.
Taken in fairly strong light, the image is pin sharp with subtle contrasts that give it a 3D look. The colours are apparently true to the original and utterly charming.
A visual delight for my weakening eye-sight!

This image is jam packed with gorgeous details and lots of things that I fancy. The natural sunlight that brings out the warm and golden colours of the butterfly's wings are one, the great clarity of the butterfly's eyes and the markings on its wings another. I can go on and on. Bist zurück von Korsika und zeigst uns einige interessante Funde. Einen Schmetterling, der fast nie auf TN gezeigt wurde und auch ein Prachtsexemplar war. Wie üblich feines Bild mit natürlichen Farben. Herzlichen Dank für diesen interessanten Beitrag.
