Unknown mushroom
ecology and location
I have encountered this mushroom on an old stump of oil palm tree in decay. It was in DRC, in the equatorial part of the country.
Characteristic
As you can see, it is a medium size mushroom (cap of around 5 to 8 centimetres of diametre).
The cap is grey in colour with a strange green area. The fruit body is firmly hanging on to the trunk: this specie is parasitic. The green color we can observe doesn't means that this is a chlorophyllous organism. As we all know, mushrooms are unable to catch light and carbon dioxide in the photosynthetic processus. The green color we can observe is probably due to the developpment of some algae on the top of the carpophorus.
The picture
The picture was taken in the morning under a warm sunshine light. With a sensitivity equivalent to ISO-200 and an apperture of f/8, the speed was 1/1000, with a focal legnth of 6 millimetres.
Post treatment
Recropping and resizing ; improvement of the gamma and the sharpness with Olympus studio.

Hello Mr.Philippe,
Beautiful close up.Like depth of this fungi.Interplay of light and shade made it attractive.True natural colour.
Thanks for sharing,
Regards and have a nice day,
Srikumar
Hi Philippe,
Not the polypore itself is green, but the algae on its surface. Probably Traametes sp., but cannot be sure even in the genus without seeing the trama. As a photo, it's fabulous with great light management, composition and contrast. Bravo.
Best regards, László

Bonsoir Philippe,
bonne semaine
