One thing I was really looking forward to photographing while in Nicaragua was one of the tree frogs which sang every night in my daughters back yard.

Traci would call us on Skype and literally take her computer outside to let us listen to the neat sounds of the frogs just outside her living room window. She actually never got to see one, because they always shut up when she tried to get close. The sounds they made were like no other frog noises that I had ever heard here in Ohio. I couldn't wait to get a shot!!!

Unfortunately I believe the frogs must have heard that I was coming with my camera, because they never made a sound the entire week we were there. I went out every night with camera and flash in hand just waiting for that first note, but it was dead silence.

I was really bummed out even though we had a great time visiting and getting to see and photograph a new land. I had visions of what these elusive frogs looked like, but time was running out fast.

It was our last night in Nicaragua as we were sitting in Traci's living room, when all of a sudden we heard a low croak. We looked out in the darkness and unbelievably this tiny frog was sticking to the glass window pane of her sliding door. I immediately ran to the bedroom to get my camera and flash and here is the end result.

My "Mission Was Accomplished" at last!!!

Your story sounds like a little miracle... patience will be rewarded very often:-)
Great shot of this cute little frog, the glass of the window was the best BG. Beautiful square framing and decentred composition and what I like over all, subtle fine colours.

Hi Ron,
You know the proverb "only the good photographer has luck". :-) Clear capture with great management of flashlight, excellent exposure. Plus of course the smoothiest background ever. :-) And the jewel on the crowwn: finally an interesting note written by the photographer and not copied from wikipedia. Minimalistic yet very effective shot. Huge congratulations.
Best regards, László

Ron, sorry for getting to this masterpiece of a picture rather late. Thank God that I did!
First of all, your story reads well. I too would have felt the same way. But you turned lucky eventually, and how!
This is the best Frog picture I've seen in my life and I thank you for sharing this remarkable picture with us.
The cute little fellow appears to be suspended in void and looks just adorable.

Hello Ron,
I mist some of your photos...but this tree frog looks fantastic. What a luck to catch it on glass....Exceptional details, colors and focus.
Marius.

Hi Ron,
As you haven't updated your posting, I have to view your previous posts, and I found this frog in a strange pose. Before I read your note, I thought this frog must have been on a window pane. I found I was right when reading the last paragraph of your story. Outstanding capture with perfect focus and clarity, wonderful natural colors, and superb compositiion. Great work, Ron. Thanks and regards!

Hello, it almost looks like he is jumping into the air until one looks at his finger pads. Excellent close up with beautiful sharpness.
Good timing,
Karen

Hello Ron

The window glass being completely blurred with the frog superbly focused
is rendering the photo more beautiful, with your POV obtaining the frog's
glance and eye-contact, and with its pose dynamism to the image, TFS
