[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

My last fungal upload was posted ages ago, so I return with a species new to TN. Paxillus obscurisporus C. Hahn is a species of the Paxillus involutus s. l. complex, and it's macroscopically distuingishable due to the less rolled margin and the dark reddish brown spore print (at old age). Found mostly on calcareous soil, in somewhat disturbed habitats like parks, gardens etc. Probably the first record in the territory of Republic of Ireland, although this species may be very easily confused with the other species of the complex and it's presumably not uncommon. Toxic, causing Paxillus syndrome.

Photo: taken in Cork City, under Betula. Manual exposure mode. PP: slight level adjustment, after re-sizing selective sharpening moderately.

Hello Laszlo,
I see your little fungi seems to be collecting some water at the moment. We have quite a few mushrooms popping up in our yard almost every day now. The ones that I know are poisonous I try to remove, for fear that the grandkids might try to eat them.
You have done a marvelous job of photographing this particular specimen, as the detail and color is outstanding. I love not only the rich yet natural colors of the mushroom, but also the vivid green grass and clover. I see the leaves are starting to fall off the trees in your area as well.

Hello Laszlo
Wonderful image of this fungi taken from a nice angle.
beautiful sharpness with perfect colour.

Hello Laszlo
very huge wrinkle seen and the details of the gills are so pretty.
Excellent contrast with the green grass.
I like the special curl the fungi offers.
