[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I spotted this Common Duffer on a large leave of a wild taro in the bamboo clump where there was not enough light. I have encountered this species a couple of times: once by a roadside on some animal droppings, and another time on brown dead fallen leaves in the woods. It was very well camouflaged among these brown fallen leaves or on earth and it was really difficult to spot. Some more information about it.
The Common Duffer, Discophora sondaica is a species of nymphalid butterfly found in Southeast Asia and South China.
The species has its hindwing sharphly angled at tornus. The variegated buff-brown undersides has a series of striations. The males have a few obscure bluish spots on the forewings above, whilst the females have a series of diffuse pale orange and whitish spots on the forewings.

Hi John, really nice and really perfect,a great capture of this rare specie that looks like a dead leaf, excellent details, colors and exposure as usual.Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Interesting name for this butterfly, John. :)
Looks like it is a large butterfly and you have captured it on a leaf from a bold point of view.
I wonder if you used your fill flash, but the nether wing has clear and sharp details on it.
Thanks.
Ram

Hello John,
This butterfly looks like a dead leaf. Excellent in sharpness and details and beautiful natural colours. Nice, but a bit noisy, blurred background.
Regards,
Peter
