[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here's wishing everyone on TN a very happy and prosperous new year. Hope you all have a successful 2014 exploring nature.

The Reddish Egret (Egretta rufescens) is a small heron. It is a resident breeder in Central America, The Bahamas, the Caribbean, the Gulf Coast of the United States, and Mexico. There is post-breeding dispersal to well north of the nesting range. In the past, this bird was a victim of the plume trade.

According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), there are only 1,500 to 2,000 nesting pairs of Reddish Egrets in the United States - and most of these are in Texas.

The Reddish Egret is considered one of the most active herons, and is often seen on the move. It stalks its prey visually in shallow water far more actively than other herons and egrets, frequently running energetically and using the shadow of its wings to reduce glare on the water once it is in position to spear a fish; the result is a fascinating dance. Due to its bold, rapacious yet graceful feeding behavior, author Pete Dunne nicknamed the Reddish Egret "the Tyrannosaurus Rex of the Flats". It eats fish, frogs, crustaceans, and insects. The bird's usual cry is a low, guttural croak.

It is a very beautiful composition, Vinay, and a beautiful species of heron. Just lacked a bit of focus, maybe for a loss of definition when adjusting the size of the image to upload to TN. This topic always gives me headaches. Anyway it's a good job, man.

Hello Vinay, and "Happy New Year" to you too.
This is a new bird for me, and one that you have photographed very well. It's body features reminds me somewhat of the Green Heron, probably because of it's rather small stout frame.
I find it quite interesting that it uses it's wings to help shade out the suns glare while searching for prey.
Great job Vinay!!
Ron

Hello Mr.Vinay,
Happy New Year To You Too.Wish You Good Time And Good Health.
This is the first time I'm commenting on your photograph attracting by this Reddish Egret. It's a new species to me.Very well captured and presentation.Good details on feathers with splendid use of light.Even the branch and almost died tree's depth is very good.Nice POV too.
Thanks for sharing,
Regards and have a nice day,
Srikumar

Very nice colors, sharpness, and composition! I agree the significant contribution of the trunk to the composition, it was good idea to capture all of it. I think a little extra space above the bird's head would make the composition a little better but as it is it is already an excellent capture. Congratulations.

Hallo Vinay
Excellent composition with very nice pose of the bird, soft colour tones. The overall picture is really pretty. I like the colour and texture of the background too. Best regards and thanks for sharing.

Hi Vinay

What a nice composition with amazing depth and nice perch, to present this different Egret species. The nice pastel colours also add to the beauty.nicely done.
