It's a rat eating Keel back.
A great image.
Sharp and showing details of its colours.
Congratulations.
I love snakes; they control the pests.
Mario.

Hi Ram,great timing and beautiful result,it's always difficult to take a snake, need to be fast and ready with the camera,a great capture with perfect details too despite the difficult location.Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ram Bhai,
Hope you are well. I feel sorry for you and for myself too....smile...that the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary visit proved a disappointment, for we were all anticipating a lot from you but let me tell you frankly, this snake's photo is no disappointment and Arjun has kindly identified it for us and now knowledge-wise we are all richer than before.I do not think that visit was a total failure and this photo proves it otherwise. Thanks a lot for sharing your wonderful photos and notes, a treasure trove indeed.
warm regards/ Abid

Hello Ram,
It may not be a bird as you would have liked, but it is certainly a beautiful snake. The markings on it's body are actually quite pretty and it's color would surely help in making it invisible while in green grass.
Snakes are always a challenge to display just because of their physical features. The are usually fully extended, which makes you have to go with a fairly wide composition in order to get them entirely into the frame. Detail is sometimes lost for this very reason. I'm glad you were able to post this image in a larger format just for this purpose. TFS.
Ron
