[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Just for a change from bird shots, I am posting a shot of a dragonfly today. As my shot shows, it was taken in full day-light during one of seismic surveys. It was sitting on a grass-blade and i was able to get a closer shot easily. Thanks to Himanshu and Nigel in helping me identify this dragonfly.
Wikipedia has following info:
Long Legged Marsh Glider or Trithemis pallidinervis is a medium sized yellowish brown dragonfly with long legs that resembles more like spider's legs.

In the Male, the face is yellow or pale brown in front and iridescent purple above. The eyes are colored Reddish brown above, brown on sides and bluish grey below. The Thorax is Olivaceous-brown above with a dark brown triangle. On sides, it is bright yellowish brown with three black stripes on each side. Legs are Black in color, long and spidery. The basal half of femora of first pair of legs are bright yellow. The Wings are transparent with reddish venation. The forewings have amber coloured basal markings. The wings have a golden sheen when viewed from certain angle. Wing spot is black with creamy white ends. The Abdomen looks Bright yellow in color with black median and lateral stripes. These stripes are confluent at the end of each abdominal segment to enclose a wedge shaped yellow spot. The male varies in colour from yellow (below) to chocolate brown and is easily distinguished by its long legs and wings that point upwards.

Female resemble the male and wings are often tinted with yellow or reddish brown. The base of abdomen is broadly black.

Size: Male: Abdomen: 28-32mm, Hind wing: 30-36mm. Size: Female: Abdomen: 26-28mm, Hind wing: 30-32mm.

Thanks for viewing,
Best Regards,
AKBAR

Akbar,
Can not ID this species for you.
But ... the details are IMPRESSIVE!!!
You took full advantage of the sun light.
Congratulations.

Hi Akbar, this dragonfly is surely of genus Onychogomphus but i don't know the exact subspecie,a fantastic capture with great details everywhere, magnificent wings and perfect colors too.Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Akbar

This is a Long legged marsh glider (Trithemis pallidinervis) a female. A typical perch and pose for this dragonfly and also a typical angle for your shot for a nice presentation. Well exposed picture to show true colours and also the sheen.

Himanshu

Hi, Akbar
Your dragonfly appears to be a female Ground Skimmer Diplacodes trivialis**Correction - my reference was itself a mis-identified photograph - Himanshu (Xplorer) is correct**. The lighting, point of view, composition, technical execution and post processing are all excellent, and this is a very fine photograph.
Best wishes, Nigel.

Himanshu is right, Akbar.
This dragonfly perches in that typical fashion only and returns to the same time and again even if disturbed intentionally.
A very good capture but a tad over-sharpened, IMHO.
Thanks.
Ram
