[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A well-known Australian endemic from the drier inland, the Sturt's Desert Pea (Swansonia formosa) is easily recognisable with its bright red petals (sometimes white) and black (sometime red) centre. It is a prostrate plant, flowering in spring after rain and is considered as a short lived perenial, able to survive the scorching summer temperatures of inland Australia. Also the floral emblem of South Australia.
This particular specimen was photographed in September, in the Pilbara. |

Bonsoir Odile,
Voilà une somptueuse fabaceae, avec des couleurs spectaculaires peu fréquentes dans nos milieux naturels.
Salutations
