White Bunny Orchid
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This small terrestrial orchid is the White Bunny Orchid (Eriochilus dilatatus), quite topical for Easter as it flowers from April to June. The flowers are very small: about 1cm across; and a maximum of 3 flowers per stalk. This photograph could be of the sub-species 'undulatus', the Crinkle-Leaf Bunny Orchid. It is pollinated by a native bee, and flowers equally well in burnt and unburnt bushland.
West Australians are not too original when naming terrestrial orchids: we also have the Hare orchids, the Rabbit orchids, Donkey, Bee, Hammer, Cowslip, Elbow, Spider, Butterfly etc... |

Nice orchid, Odile. But I will prefer to see a macro of it.
