This Sunday morning, I found this very sweet 'Painted Lady' on this particular flower in our garden. In the beginning, I was in a hurry to shoot some good pictures of it before it flew away. To my surprise, I noticed that it was in no hurry to go anywhere. However, it was keeping its wings closed and giving me the side view of its nether wings. At one stage, I nudged it intentionally so that I could take a chance to capture it with its wings open if it decided to stay back. And it did, opening its wings only slightly when it chose another flower of the same species. I did this several times and obtained some fairly good pictures mostly with its wings half open for a few split seconds when it landed at the new location. Here is one of them. Hope you like it.

The Cynthia group of colourful butterflies, commonly called Painted Ladies, comprises a subgenus of the genus Vanessa in the Family Nymphalidae. They are well known throughout most of the world.

The group includes:

1. The Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui), which is almost global in its distribution
2. Australian Painted Lady (Vanessa kershawi)
3. American (Painted) Lady (Vanessa virginiensis)
4. West Coast Lady (Vanessa annabella).

Hello Ram!
Superb composition in terms of light and beautiful natural colors. Orange and yellow seem in a perfect balance and a darker background is adding beauty. Very good diagonal framing too. Thanks for sharing this beautiful shot,
Have a nice day,
