[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Although I do enjoy the autumn color and the nip in the air, I really miss the bird song and the butterflies flitting merrily about the colorful flowers of summer. So I am still wallowing in my summer butterfly photos.

This is another Black Swallowtail, one of the most agressive butterflies in this part of the world. Known to chase off leps twice it's size and is commonly seen with torn wings that he wears with some kind of battle scar pride.

I felt this photo was interesting because of the color of the zinnia is well coordinated with the the back ground which is a reddish brown barn. It provided a nice foil to spotlight the Black Swallowtail.

I want to use the word delicious? Why? I think it's because the colours are so rich they make me think if chocolate and fruit!!

The actual image is superb, very nice detail and excellent composition.

Great work.

I opened this photo from the thumbs without actually seeing it was yours. Very nice colors indeed.

The BG is gorgeous, the POV unusual and the whole of it rendered just very well. Nice one, Lesley!

Excellent image, Lesley!!!. Spot on. Nice note too.

Lesley, I have just told Callie in the following post this note which in fact is the same for this one:
I think the level of this site is getting very high. For my modest opinion, this is one of the best compositions for a butterfly I have seen in TN. And the butterfly is beautiful. Thanks.
Two different styles, too fantastic shots, congratulations!

Brightful and sharp. Very good definition. You're right about the back ground. Well coordinated.
The picture is almost perfect. I mean, only the right part of the butterfly isn't on focus.
Whatever, this is a beautifull one. ****

Beautiful shot, this Black Swallowtail is really nice on it and background is perfect for sure with this pink flower. Excellent macro with perfect DOF. Felicitation, i'm going to watch other pics of butterfly from you. Thanks for sharing

Lesley, Hey, your shooting your butterflies on my zinnia's again! ;-) I agree that the BG tones make this photo a very pleasing color combination highlighting your Swallowtail well. Good job!!

Good shot! You've captured this extremely well, the focus is spot on, your DOF is well controlled, and the colours are absolutely amazing - I'm not sure whether a fraction more DOF would have put the far wingtip into focus without making the background intrusive though, that said I really love the shot as it is... Good note too. Very nicely captured :-D

Excellent sharpness and detail. Colours are well saturated, and focus/dof are great. All in all a really good striking image.

Beautiful color harmony, enhancing an already superb butterfly image. I appreciate the well choosen PoV (not evident for a butterfly shot), giving the whole composition lot's of originality. Very well framed and balanced. Interesting note. Congrats!

What a beauty you captured here Lesley and a very interesting angle too. Wonderful colours and abolutely perfect matching background. the dof is spot on as well as the composition. Really professional work here.

Very nice photo

The point of view is very nice... A bit from down to up. I really like this unusual shot with the "ton sur ton" tones of pink and purple. Lovely!
I think I just had cropped tighter at the bottom to avoid the white part.

What a fabulous photo.
