Thanks for your kind words and comments of my previous posts.
Today is 10 years then I became a member of this site, member 25. Time really flies, I had no plans to stay so long :-) The firs 5-6 years I was very active, but the last years only now and then.
I had hope to be here more often this year, but health problem stopped my intention.

I hope you like the Large Grizzly Skipper, it is new born and very fresh.

From Wikipedia.

The Large Grizzled Skipper (Pyrgus alveus) is a species of skipper (family Hesperiidae). It is distributed throughout most of continental Europe but is absent from Denmark and practically all European islands including Great Britain, Ireland, Azores, Balearic Islands, Channel Islands, Canary Islands, Crete, Cyprus, Iceland, etc.

This is a rather variable species with a wingspan of 22–32 mm (not always particularly "large") with several subspecies having been described. As with most Pyrgus species it has dark brown wings with pale chequered margins and is rather difficult to identify specifically in the field but good views reveal clear, well-spaced white spotting on the forewing and much fainter markings on the hindwings. The most likely confusion species is the Safflower Skipper (P. carthami). P. alveus is on the wing from June to August with one or two generations produced each year.

The larva has been recorded feeding on Agrimonia, Helianthemum, Polygala, Potentilla and Rubus.

Hi dear Gert.
I do not imagine TN without you, your pictures (oh, where are your hundreds masterpieces?), informative notes, useful advices and kind comments. Even your very seldom visits here last years have strong impact on us. It is clear TN now is not the same as TN then. However, I wish you health improvements, many new shots and posts here.

As all your other pictures this one is wonderful. Silk-looking BG underlines the shapes and details of the cute skipper perfectly. I like impressive diagonal composition and natural pleasant colours of the image. Warm regards and all the best.
Yours Alexei.

Hello Gert,
You could not have asked for a better pose, the wing patterns and colors are easily seen in super fine detail. I really like the framing and the exposure is right on the money. Well done!!
Ron

Hi Gert,
We also truly hope you'll visit TN more regularly, as you're a very important part of the whole website. 10 years... How many people came and went during this period... But you're here (even sometimes), and your photography is very spectacular and is always offering something new to the viewer. I don't vivisect the image, it's excellent as it is. Hope to see you more often, old friend. All the best!
Kind regards, László

Hello Gert,
Obviously I missed this picture associated with a decade of presence on TN. Not bad!!Congratulations.
Pyrgus alveus is also present in our country, you show it in a typical pose. As usual composition, sharpness and presentation are excellent.
Thanks too for your kind visit to my last picture and I wish you the best for your health.
Take care!
Anne
