Species: M. didyma

The Spotted Fritillary (Melitaea didyma) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found primarily in Southern and Central Europe. The wingspan is 35-50 mm. The butterfly flies from April to September depending on the location. The larvae feed on various plants, including Linaria, Plantago lanceolata, Veronica, Centaurea jacea and Digitalis purpurea.

Lunghezza ala anteriore: 17-24 mm
Distribuzione in Italia: Tutta Italia compresa la Sicilia e l'Elba ma esclusa la Sardegna.
Habitat: prati dal piano basale a quello montano e cacuminale, sino a circa 1200 metri s.l.m.
Generazioni annuali: due con sfarfallamento in maggio - giugno e agosto - settembre.
Piante nutrici: Plantago lanceolata - Linaria vulgaris - Stachys recta - Globularia punctata.

Another great quality macro. Fantastic sharpness, details and diagonal composition. Excellent DOF with splendid bright colours on the butterfly and a beautiful blurred background.
