Another Trigger plant (Stylidium sp), showing the small flower with the trigger ready (the red small bulb on the left). A pollinating insect will land on the flower centre and the red trigger will hit, leaving it to pollinate other plants.
This particular trigger plant has a small rosette of leaves, with a stem of very small flowers (0.8cm) growing to 20cm tall. There are many species of Stylidium in the Jarrah forest, all flowering about now, and I am not sure of the exact species name for this one. |
