I took this close up shot of this beautiful male Asian Koel(Eudynamys scolopaceus) in summer this year, that is, in August,2014. These are very elusive birds and I have always found it difficult to take a clean shot.As I have resized the original some of the flaws of the shot are not perceptible but this is not even a good quality shot what to speak of a top quality. But I have preferred to post it after a few months because of the head of the bird including of course the thick beak and the red eye for better identification of this bird. The bird has a thick strong wonderful beak.Personally I love this hardy species of parasite.Hope friends will like the shot.

The Asian koel (Eudynamys scolopaceus) is a member of the cuckoo order of birds, the Cuculiformes. It is found in South Asia, China, and Southeast Asia. It forms a superspecies with the closely related black-billed and Pacific koels which are sometimes treated as subspecies. The Asian koel is a brood parasite that lays its eggs in the nests of crows and other hosts, who raise its young. They are unusual among the cuckoos in being largely frugivorous as adults.[5] The name koel is echoic in origin with several language variants. The bird is a widely used symbol in Indian poetry.
