Speckled Yellow Pseudopanthera macularia
(Linnaeus, 1758)
Wingspan 23-28 mm.
A highly distinctive, day-flying species, which is reasonably common in the south of England and Wales, as well as Ireland. It occurs more sporadically further north into Scotland.
It inhabits woodland and scrubland, and the larvae feed mainly on wood sage (Teucrium scorodonia).
The moth is out in May and June. |
