I am used to seeing Eastern Cottontails here in Ohio, so when I spotted this giant specimen while in Arizona, I was quite impressed.

The Black-tailed Jack Rabbit is like a cottontail on steroids. This guy can grow to about two feet in length and weigh around six pounds. Standing upright with ears raised towards the sky makes it look all that much more larger.

Hello Ron,
a very beautiful photo..regards..

Okay I love this rabbit! Such long ears!! Never seen this species yet.. so far (yes, like you) seen the Cottontails only.

Steroids, lol. Never ever say that world. Steroid is bad, very bad.

No, this rabbit is on supplements rather.. how about that!? :D

Keep uploading photographs. I am lagging behind. Returned after a long time. Want to check all (?!) lovely uploads one by one.. with time.

Hi Ron,
A splendid view of this Black-tailed Jack Rabbit ..
Great sharpness, beautiful light and colours and I like the natural composition.
Best wishes,

Ciao Ron, great capture of curios creature with fantastic ears, wonderful natural colors, fine details and splendid sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Before the large farm on which I was living on in Woodland Cal was torn down for development, we had many of these in tall untrodden grasses. It was fun to watch them up and down so very high.

Your image certainly shows the beast close in. No way could I get that close. I do have some VHS of them jumping however. I really appreciate you jogging my memory...and yes it might be an identical cousin. Not sure...Good to see you posts.

Hello Ron - Very natural and strong composition to me. Very well captured this Black-tailed Jack Rabbit. Details on its body are really impressive, as well as the color and DOF of ground and grasses. Very well managed WB, in which you always want to be perfect. Like this picture. Thanks for sharing your work. Regards and have a nice Sunday - Srikumar
