Birth of the female adult form. A common species in central and northern Europe, rare in Portugal formerly known only in serra da Estrela (the highest mountain of continental Portugal) but found recently in GerÍs (northern Portugal) that are currently two protected areas.

Hello Hugo,
A wonderful close-up shot of the common hawker dragonfly just after it emerged from the nymph stage. Nicely focused showing good detail and beautiful color. I like it's light colored and very delicate looking wings as well as the clean BG. Well done!!
