The Common Yellowthroat is one of those warblers that seems to never come out of the brush. They love skulking through very thick vegetation, giving you just momentary glimpses before disappearing back into the tangles.

I was very lucky to find this little male somewhat in the open, as he made his way from branch to branch in search of insects. The males wear a cute little black mask which the females do not possess.

A very vocal bird with a unique witchety-witchety-witchety call, they are usually heard long before being spotted.

An abundant warbler they winter in the U.S., Mexico, Central America, and West Indies
