Butterflies are a bit scarce here in Jammu these days owing to intense summer heat. However, I was fortunate to come across this rather damaged Yellow Pansy on my school campus yesterday. It was restless and flew away soon after giving me a few shots with its wings open.

Junonia hierta, the yellow pansy, is a species of nymphalid butterfly found in the Palaeotropics. It is usually seen in open scrub and grassland habitats.

Distribution

This species can be found in Africa and Southeast Asia.

Hello Ram,
Maybe a little tattered and torn, but still a fine looking specimen and well worth your effort to photograph for us. I love it's beautiful markings and well saturated colors.
I am not seeing very many butterflies in our area either.
