[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was out in the vegetable garden tonight (which actually looks like a weed patch) and noticed that my tomato plants were literally being eaten up. I knew from experience that the culprit was a large green caterpillar otherwise known as the Tobacco Hornworm.

These fat little caterpillar have a red protrusion on their rear ends that resemble a horn or stinger. I remember as a kid picking them off of our tomato plants and tossing them as quick as I could, so I wouldn't get stung. I have since learned that this scary looking horn is just for looks, and is actually harmless.

This is the caterpillar of the Carolina Sphinx moth. Common food plants are ground cherry, horse-nettle, nightshade, tobacco, and tomato plants.

Hello Ron,
This is a first class close up of the green caterpillar. Which you have taken with fine detail and bright colours. A nice side view. Well done TFS. Good notes too.
Regards Sigi

What a fabulous macro, Ron! Amazing sharpness and truly natural green colors in an almost entirely green image.
Liked your story about this Caterpillar being a show-off with that fake stinger at the tail end (in fact, I thought it was the other way round).
Thanks and regards.

Hi Ron,
Very good close-up ..
Superb POV, good details and nice and smooth BG.
Best wishes,

Fabulous caterpillar, perfectly portrayed, my friend Ron. Interesting little eyes looking at us from every segment of the larva. It is wonderful as the great program of God is manifest in each of their small creatures; shouting at all the foolish men: I exist, I exist ...

Hola Ron, hermosa foto de esta bella Oruga, me encanta la composición, la percha, el manejo de la luz y la acción congelada...saludos.

Hello Ron,
a very fine macro shot of this fat little caterpillar, you did well to spot it camouflaged among the plants and even better to capture the shot.
An interesting note complements the photo.
