Hello friends, the camouflaged American Woodcock with its
environment the forest ground, this Woodcock was pointed
(search while running in the woods, found and then pointed
with its nose) by Bobcat Celtick my 3rd pointing dog.

1/320s f/7.1 ISO1000 85mm (35mm eq:127mm).

Related to the sandpipers, but strikingly different
in habits. This rotund, short-legged bird hides in
forest thickets by day, where it uses its long bill
to probe in damp soil for earthworms. Its eyes are
set far back on its head, allowing it to watch for
danger even with its bill buried in the dirt.

Males perform a remarkable "sky dance" on spring
and summer nights, in a high, twisting flight,
with chippering, twittering, bubbling sounds.

Merci.

Asbed

Hi Asbed.
I think it is not easy job to take such species. You have done it very well. Scene is very natural? Difficult for shooting . However, all is reproduced very good including the cute bird. Warm regards and TFS.
Alexei.

Well spotted - it must be difficult to see this bird so well camouflaged. But please repost without the lgo in the middle!!

Hello Asbed,
It will be a few more months until I have the opportunity to see any of these neat little birds, but I always look forward to the event. A great shot showing how well they blend into their surroundings. That big brown is sometimes the only give-a-way you have when trying to spot them. Wonderful focus and beautiful natural colors.

Ciao Asbed, not good camouflage, it's easy to find the bird, great capture, beautiful natural colors and excellent clarity, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Asbed,
Pin sharp photo with excellent details. I like this interesting photo with such natural colors, taken from a very good POV. Nice eye contact with this perfectly camouflaged bird.
Marius.

Truly amazing camouflage, Asbed. For a moment, I really did not see the bird so well merged with the background.
Well done and thanks for sharing this marvellous capture.
