One bird that seems to love the cold snowy weather is the Black-capped Chickadee. A tiny bird that can be found almost any winter morning searching for food.

A common visitor to backyard bird feeders they love to drop by for either sunflower seeds or possibly even a cake of suet.

This particular bird had just taken off from it's perch when I clicked the shutter, thus getting this full opened wing pose.

The white BG is the result of the snow covered field behind our house.

Hello Ron,
Pin sharp photo with excellent details. I like this interesting photo with such natural colors, taken from a very good POV. Nice eye contact despite that the bird is in flight.....
Thanks for sharing!

sublime capture !!!

Such an awesome capture, great stop action and details. I love everything about this photo, bravo.

Hello Ron,
Beautiful freezing of this Chickadee, against such snowy landscape. Excellent details as well as beautiful texture on its wing. Although you know it's perfect weather, but credit goes to you to focus on it well, even in such difficult situation. Nice use of flash, otherwise photo would be dark definitely and BG would be very harsh.
Thanks for sharing with useful NOTE,

Srikumar

Hello Ron
What great timing! A perfect capture showing off the Chickadees plumage. They have to be one of my favourite birds, they have such a happy song, always a treat when they visit the garden. This is one of the best portraits I've seen of the Chickadee. Outstanding to say the least.

Hi Ron,

This is almost too good to be true! The details of the wings and the highlight of the eye are magnificent. Not to mention a beautiful in-flight pose and spectacular details. Snow?? What is snow. We are having a winter filled with temps in the 80's. I dread thinking of what August will bring.

Hello Ron,
eye-catching image revealing amazing details of the chickadee at take-off, perfectly frozen in motion in an iconic pose, wings widely spread and its head so nicely turned in eye-contact. A sheer pleasure to see. My congratulations! With thanks and best regards,
Peter
