[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Welwitchia is often referred to as the living fossil as it is such an ancient plant. It occurs in the Namib Desert of Namibia and Angola and nowhere else in the world. This is what it looked like in afternoon desert sun. |

Hello Neels,
Beautiful presentation of this Living Fossil. Yesterday, I watched a Television programme, called "Leef Jou Reis" and showed Namib Desert and this species. Long lifespan.......!
Thanks for sharing such rare species,
Best regards,
Srikumar
Hello Neels,
A very interesting specie. I like your capture with this exceptional afternoon light.

Hallo Neels,
Prachtig licht op deze welwitchia. Erg mooie foto genomen vanuit een perfect standpunt. Prima van scherpte.
Groet,
Peter
Very unusual shot, Neels - the afternoon sun and the reddish brown soil make this look almst like a seaweed that has had its color altered.
Hi Neels,
Good to see this extraordinary plant on TrekNature. Beautiful golden color tones closed to sunset time, well done!
Kind regards, László
