[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Large Bee-fly, Bombylius major, is a bee mimic. The eggs are flicked by the adult female toward the entrance of the underground nests of solitary bees and wasps. After hatching, the larvae find their way into the nests to feed on the grubs.

My hard drive with recent photographs is damaged,
until the problem is solved so far again something from the archives.
Regards Jiri.

hallo Jiri
very nice macro from this beauty fly
good sharpness and beautiful colours
thanks gr lou

Hello Jiri,
a most impressive close-up of the shy Large Bee Fly with amazing details, beautiful natural colours in attractive sunny light. Tightly framed but nicely composed. Just wondering if this insect was seated there with its wings at rest for a moment. A rather rare observation, I suppose, as I usually see them hovering in front of blossoms like humming birds. Or did you take the shot with ultra high speed shutter, freezing the wings in motion so pefectly? With thanks, and best regards,
Peter
