Spring is taking a great leap forward now.

A most exciting time of the year has arrived.
So much to see, to enjoy, to identify again:

Muscari neglectum.

Order: Asparagales
Family: Asparagaceae
Subfamily: Scilloideae
Genus: Muscari
Species: Muscari neglectum

Synonyme:
Muscari racemosum var. neglectum (Guss. ex Ten.)

a small species of grape hyacinthes,
with flower stems measurung just about 10cm,

growing in abundance, and standing in full blossom now in the dry meadows of the southern parts of the Vienna Woods above the vinyards near Vienna, turning parts of those meadows deep blue.

Still trying to identify that little pink flower in front at the bottom: probably some species of Geranium (stork's bill).

The location:
Gießhübler Heide, dry grassland on lime stone to the South of Vienna, at an elevation of 550m above sea level. It may be viewed in the workshop.

Cool and windy day, grey sky with clouds of rain passing by, and a few sunny moments in beween. Aprilwetter - as we are saying here.

The camera:
Leica V-LUX (Type 114), 5472x3648 pixels, sRGB, 1/250sec., f/8.0, ISO-125, zoom at wideangle 9 mm (equivalent 25mm).

Postwork: Adobe Photoshop PS4, cropped at both sides, downsized to 800 pixels width.

Thank you for visiting.
Hope you enjoy.

Wishing you good spirits and good health.

Hi Peter,i like a lot pics and perspectives like that, where is it possibile to see not only the flowers but the scenery too in background.A very elegant way to show us the muscari flowers,a wonderful springtime preview from the austrian mountains, maybe a bit early after the warm winter of this year. Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Hello Peter,
A wonderful shot of these colorful Grape Hyacinthes thriving in their natural habitat. I like this low perspective which gets us down to their level. Focus is sharp and your exposure is perfect.
Appears the wild flowers and grasses are flourishing in your part of the globe, here it is still pretty cold and the plants are just starting to peak through the soil. We actually had a few inches of snow last night...yuck!!

Lieber Peter,
Danke!
Herzlich grüsst
Anne

Hallo Peter,
Beautiful Spring and a very nice presentation ..
Good sharp details and a nice spring composition.
Best wishes,
Seyfi

Hi Peter,
Nice capture with muscaris, the little pink flower is the filaree storksbill (Erodium cicutarium) in my opinion. Perfect sharpness and depth, probably the flowers at the right are too closed to the edge of the frame, otherwise a very spectacular shot.
Kind regards from Ireland, László
