These birds have an unusual migration pattern as every few years in winter They migrate southwards in large numbers. The Reasons for this behavior are not known but May be related to climatic factors and above all the availability of food. In this way overwintering Populations can thrive where food is abundant. This small finch is an acrobatic feeder, or at hanging upside-down like a tit. It will visit garden bird feeding stations

Hello Yves,
A very pretty bird with beautiful black wing bars and a cute black cap. Reminds me somewhat of a Wilsons Warbler. Nicely composed and displaying good detail and well saturated colors. I like the wonderful eye contact you obtained wit just a tad bit of catchlight. Well done!!

Hi Yves,
A very nice shot of this nice bird,in my country relatively abundant. Amazing colors with nice composition and perfectly sharp photo.
Regards Jiri.

Hello Yves,
This is a perfect image. I like the colors and details of this nice popular bird in my country. In winter it migrates in the city gardens. It is not very shy and feeding with sunflower seeds.
