Stenodactylus stenodactylus

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Back from bicycling:
By turning stones in the desert steppe of Southern Tunisia near Ksar Ghilane I found this tiny Gekkonid, it is (tentatively) Stenodactylus stenodactylus, Lichtenstein's Short fingered Gecko. It was'nt running away and I put the stone back on. This is a kind of Gecko that does not climb walls but digs and runs at night on sand and rock. Cicindela has presented this animal from the wild on TN before.
ID: Three small Gekkonids occur in this region: Stenodactylus petrii, S. stenodactylus and Tropionotus tripolitanus.
Technical stuff: I have a problem to get the pictures from the desert sharp on TN (the originals are in focus and sharp). Hopefully I will find out the reason. |

Hallo Dieter nochmals,
Ein hübscher kleiner Gecko, eine feine Begenung in der Wüste. Das Bild ist ein wenig überbelichtet, aber als Dokument sowieso gültig.
herzliche Grüsse
Anne
