|As in most recent recent years, our fall rains are late. Thus, our fall flowers are few and in bad shape. In one area of Mt. Carmel we have a population of hysteranthous C. persicum, namely, bulbs that flower before growing their leaves. Due to the drought many bulbs are behaving in this way now. In the picture you can see the withered leaves of last year, too.|
In the WS I show a specimen that is growing its leaves in parallel to the bloom. Normally the leaves are fully grown, before the flowers emerge. See also another hysteranthous specimen.

I saw many of these beautiful flowering plants while in Israel this past spring. How sad to see the leaves are withered and dead because of the delayed rainfall. I also
