Habitat;Often a weed of cultivated and fallow fields (especially cornfields), also found in disturbed areas, limestone slopes and escarpments, on basalt, sand dunes,up 1650 m.
Distribution;Mediterranean area,SW Asia eastwards to southern Turkestan,Arabia.

Syn;G.segetum,G.tenuiflorus.
related to G.illyricus and G.antakiensis.
