A curious image I made in Senegal last year. The perspective is misleading and in fact it seems that this giraffe has two heads. The picture was taken during a safari in the nature reserve of Bandia. The Bandia wildlife reserve is a real ecological jewel in the crown of Senegal. It has succeeded in reintroducing much of the marvellous native flora and of some of Africa’s best loved animals. Many of which had gradually disappeared, some of them centuries ago, due to demographic pressure and poaching.
Bandia lies 65km from Dakar and 15km from Saly-Portugal (the seaside resort town on the “Petite Côte”) on the main road to Mbour and Casamance.

Una immagine curiosa che ho fatto in Senegal lo scorso anno. La prospettiva è ingannevole ed in effetti sembra che questa giraffa abbia due teste. La foto è stata scattata durante un safari nella riserva naturalistica di Bandia.

Hello Luciano,
Great shot of these two beautifully marked giraffes. As you already stated it really does look as if it is a two headed giraffe. The focus a sharp displaying excellent detail of their unique features. I like the way you composed the shot keeping your subjects a bit off center.
I will be heading to Tanzania this June when hopefully I will get some photographs of my own.
Well done!!

Hi Luciano,
The sky is washed out and the crop isn't the best either (see the halfly cropped giraffes at right), however, full credit for the funny scene as it really seemed like only one giraffe! :-) Not your best picture technically, but loving fun so much I can only say: well done Signor! :-)
Kind regards from Ireland, László

Amusing shot, Luc. Giraffes seem to ;lend themselves to unusual appearances, perhaps because they are so unusual. Color looks very good and very sharp image.

Bonjour Luciano,
Voilà une image drôle qui fait soutire..heureusement pas une girafe à double tête.
Bien vu!

Hello Luciano

Amazing that poses giving the impression of 2 heads on one giraffe like you wrote.
excellent timing from you to shoot the photo, the tree in the background it is
a big plus to the enhancement of the image, TFS

Hello Luciano,
Beautiful moment. Giraffe is always beautiful to capture. Quite well framed if we compare BG with foreground. Colour looks good and natural. But light looks bit flat to me and those two half Giraffes......not perfect cropping or not perfect timing to click. Like giant tree in the BG but sharpness of the lower part of the Giraffes could have been better; as well as you could easily highlighted shadow area of the Giraffe's neck and belly (to get rid of DARK LIGHT; in your word) a bit IMHO.
I can remembere your comment on my Giraffe picture "an easy picture...." but here it doesn't look very easy to you ;-)
Thanks for sharing,
Regards and have a nice WE,
