Oriental Magpie Robin Male
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
At this time of the year, the male Oriental Magpie Robin sings sweetly to woo the female. I shot this one some days ago while it sang its heart out.
BTW, this is my 2200th picture on TN.
The oriental magpie-robin (Copsychus saularis) is a small passerine bird that was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family Turdidae, but now considered an Old World flycatcher. They are distinctive black and white birds with a long tail that is held upright as they forage on the ground or perch conspicuously. Occurring across most of the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia, they are common birds in urban gardens as well as forests. They are particularly well known for their songs and were once popular as cagebirds.
Distribution and habitat
This magpie-robin is a resident breeder in tropical southern Asia from Bangladesh, interior India, Sri Lanka and eastern Pakistan east to Indonesia, Thailand, south China, Malaysia, and Singapore. They have been introduced to Australia.
The oriental magpie-robin is found in open woodland and cultivated areas often close to human habitations.

Hello Ram,
Great shot of this lovely Oriental Magpie Robin. Nicely focused while showing excellent detail. Love the catchlight in its eye which is always a bonus. The patch on its wing immediately captures your attention, very pretty. I'm glad to see the birds are starting to show up for you, it's still a bit early here in Ohio.

Very beautiful shot!
Tighter cropping and a bit more light would have made it even better.

Hello Mr. Thakur,
Congratulations on reaching the milestone!!
A lovely, lovely shot of the singing Robin. The sharpness is very good. The bluish streak wings, the open beak and the catch light on the eye makes the image stands out.
