The male Scarce Copper is a strikingly beautiful butterfly with his vivid, solid orange upperside which is very conspicuous in flight and helps to locate him as he's whizzing around! The undersides are very characteristic with the white splodges in the post-discal line. The female upperside is much duller and very spotty. Despite its name, this butterfly seems quite common in upland areas over about 1000m. Females are seen more rarely.

Hello Rimantas,
A great shot of the Scarce Copper butterfly. Love its brightly orange colored wings. Sharply focused allowing us to view it in fine detail. You did a good job on the exposure considering the harsh lighting you had to deal with.

Hi Rimantas, good capture of this lovely scarce cooper that i never seen in my fields and very rare in Italy. The sharpness is good, but not the best, while the orange is very bright. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano
