We were watching a pair of Kingfishers along the Tarangire River when I spotted a pair of large birds flying towards us. I was amazed to see this gorgeous stork land right in front of us.

The unique markings on its bill were quite impressive to say the least. Very bright red, black and yellow colors contrasting against a lovely black and white plumage.

I had viewed this specimen here on TN, but couldn't remember the correct name of the bird. I took many photos of the two of them as they splashed about in the water which I will share at a later date.

I like the combination of Exposure: f/7.1, 1/8000 seconds there made this freeze, nice catch.

Hello Ron,
Excellent capture with a nice specie. Perfect focus, details and clarity.
It is a high quality image. A great luck to catch it from a close range which such superb light.

A truly majestic bird that you were fortunate to come across during your trip to Tanzania, Ron, and what a fabulous image you have captured! Those stunning colors, especially on the bill and the knees, give the Stork a regal outlook. The background ambience too is so very natural.
Thanks for sharing this amazing picture!

Hi Ron,

This must be one of the most beautiful & colorful stork in the whole world. The colors are superb with the yellow-red combination of the beak, the red knee and the glossy purplish wing. Absolute beauty!!

Warm Regards,

Hello Ron,
You were lucky that it wasn't a sunny day. Otherwise it's very difficult to capture a good picture of this Saddle billed stork keeping exposure perfect. I also captured this bird but couldn't posted yet due to harsh sunlight and overexposed light on white parts.
Picture looks nice. DOF on eye could have been better in my test. Beautiful pose and perfect capture from car.
Thanks for showing,

Hi Ron,

The bird is well placed in the frame. The point of view is showing the details of the Saddled-billed Stork. It is clear and sharp. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.
