Nome Volgare: Euridame

Famiglia: Lycaenidae

Lunghezza ala anteriore mm. 14-18

Nota: dalla maggior parte degli esperti considerata come sottospecie di L. hippotoe, sverna come giovane larva. Le uova sono deposte singolarmente sulla pianta nutrice: quando nascono le larve hanno vita solitaria e si impupano direttamente sulla pianta nutrice.

Maschio: colore rosso lucente con bordo nero. Tracce di strie discocellulari nere nelle ali anteriori. Bordo anale delle posteriori ampiamente annerito fino alla seconda nervatura cubitale.

Femmina: colore arancio quasi totalmente velato di bruno scuro, Attraverso la velatura si scorgono le due macchie discali e discocellulari nere nelle anteriori e tracce di fascia submarginale arancio nelle posteriori.

Rovescio: simile in ambedue i sessi, grigiastra leggermente arancione solo nelle anteriori, presenti numerose macchie puntiformi nere circondate di bianco.

Distribuzione: Alpi

Habitat: prati del piano montano e cacuminale, da 1200 sino a circa 2100 metri s.l.m.

Generazioni annuali: una con sfarfallamento in luglio-agosto

Piante nutrici: Rumex acetosella, Rumex acetosa.

Nice shot, great colors, sharpness and depth. Probably the PoV wasn't the most attractive, but you've done your best and managed to make a useful shot - a perfect example how to make advantage from the disadvantage. Good job!

Fantastic shot of this beautiful copper butterfly. The point of view is a bit out of the ordinary, but still very attractive. Excellent depth of field and outstanding sharpness with bright rich colors.
